So lately I have been wondering why teenagers don't really "celebrate" Halloween. Halloween was my favorite holiday when I was little the dressing up and the candy and just the overall smell in the air. But now, Halloween is just like "whoop-de-do" Halloween and doesn't even mean anything. And as adults they have big parties and dress up too. Most teenagers don't dress up and it is basically forbidden to go trick-or-treating, except for maybe some boys. So why is this?
A teenagers life, mainly girls, is so centered on looking nice, and not dressing dumb. If you dress non-stylish or you look ridiculous then you get ridiculed by other teenagers. Girls seem to care more how they look to others than guys do. So maybe that is one reason why boys its ok for them to dress up and go trick-or-treating.
The stereo-typical teenager is always depressed. Halloween is a "happy" holiday and therefore if we are "depressed" teenagers we aren't allowed to have fun right? Wrong! Maybe not that we are a teenager is the problem it's that Halloween is a kid holiday. So why do adult have parties?
According to my mom when she was younger adults didn't have parties and Halloween was strictly a child holiday. Now people seem to be more self centered and they want to do their own thing the adults decided to have parties for Halloween. This leaves no one to answer the door at their house, unless they have teenager at home. That leaves them responsibility of handing out candy, which I'm not complaining about I just wish teenagers didn't think Halloween was a dumb holiday, besides the haunted houses.
