The ever-growing trend of cell phones

Why does it seems as though every single person has little friend called cell phone? Maybe its like some sort of security blanket, that you need to carry around, just in case that "special someone" calls. Or if a child needs to get a hold of their mom or dad then it is very convenient. But is it really necessary to be on it ALL the time? It is so ridiculous that people are on their cell phones ALL the time! They are with someone out to dinner and they are talking to someone else. That is so rude! Or this one time we were standing in line to get tickets at a movie theater and there was this mom on her cell phone. She was talking to her friend while her poor kids, were standing there extremely bored. She was telling her friend that she decided to spend some time with her children. Yeah some GRAND time she was spending with them! It just doesn't make sense that someone would be SO inconsiderate of other people. Are people really THAT selfish that they don't think of others. People should enjoy the people they are with instead of having to be talking to someone else on their phone. It IS possible to have it off, that why they made the off button!
